Do I need to be experienced in yoga to join?
Not at all! Whether you've been practicing for years or are just beginning, you're welcome here. I'll offer options and modifications throughout our practices so you can explore movement in a way that feels right for your body. This isn't about how advanced your practice is. It's about showing up with curiosity and being open to the experience.
What if I'm traveling alone?
You're in good company! Many people attend retreats on their own, and it's often one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. You'll have opportunities to connect through shared meals, yoga, adventures, and conversation, while still having plenty of space to enjoy time to yourself.
Can I come with a friend or partner?
Of course! Whether you're joining us with someone you know or arriving on your own, you're welcome. Shared accommodations are available for guests who would like to room together. You can explore room options and pricing through our booking page.
Is this retreat open to both men and women? How are shared rooms arranged?
Absolutely! This retreat welcomes both men and women, whether you're traveling solo, with a friend, or with a partner. Your comfort is important to us, and we'll do our best to accommodate room-sharing preferences. Room arrangements will depend on availability and the needs of the group, with private accommodations available at an additional cost. If you have any questions or concerns about sharing a room, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I'm happy to talk through the options with you so you can make the choice that feels right for you!
What if I've never been on a yoga retreat before?
Then what a wonderful place to begin! There's no particular way you need to show up, and you don't need to know what to expect. We'll create a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere where you can settle in, get to know everyone, and experience the week at your own pace.
Will I have free time?
Absolutely! Having the freedom to choose how you spend your time is an important part of this retreat. Alongside our yoga practices and planned adventures, there will be opportunities to relax by the pool, enjoy a massage, explore, read, or simply do nothing at all.
Do I have to participate in every yoga class or activity?
Not at all. Everything is an invitation, never an obligation. Some days you may feel like joining every activity, while other days you might prefer a slow morning or a little solitude. I want you to feel comfortable honoring what you need throughout the week.
Will there be opportunities to deepen my yoga practice?
Absolutely! I'll offer optional workshops and opportunities to explore inversions, arm balances, alignment, and technique. We'll also explore yoga beyond the physical poses, creating space for self-inquiry, greater awareness, and a deeper understanding of how we move through life, both on and off the mat.
There's room to explore whatever direction your curiosity takes you, always at your own pace.
What happens after I book?
You'll receive additional information as we get closer to our retreat, including helpful travel details, what to pack, and what to expect during our time together. Our goal is for you to feel informed, prepared, and excited long before you arrive in Bali.
Is alcohol permitted at the retreat?
Yes, alcohol is permitted at Basundari, with a few guidelines. In keeping with the retreat center's policies, alcoholic beverages may be enjoyed in the designated dining area but are not permitted in guest rooms.
Are there any cultural customs I should be aware of?
Absolutely! Part of the beauty of visiting Bali is experiencing and respecting its rich cultural and spiritual traditions. Certain sacred temples and purification rituals have specific customs for visitors. For example, women who are menstruating are traditionally asked not to enter sacred temple waters. We kindly ask all guests to honor these local practices. If you're unable to participate in a particular ritual, you're still welcome to enjoy the surrounding experience.
Still have questions?
I'd love to hear from you! Whether you're wondering if this retreat is right for you, have questions about the yoga, flight concerns, or simply want to talk through what the experience might look like, please don't hesitate to reach out.
I want you to feel comfortable and confident in your decision to join us, and I'm happy to connect at any point along the way.
I can't wait to share this experience with you!
